Future of Physics Days

Exclusive events and activities to help undergrads get the most out of their March Meeting experiences.

An undergraduate student at Future of Physics Days, March Meeting 2023

As a student at March Meeting, you will present your research, learn about grad school and career options, and connect with the scientific community at one of the largest physics conferences in the world.

Undergraduate March Meeting events

You can look forward to in-person events (with free swag like laptop sleeves and prizes!) tailored specifically for the ultimate undergrad experience:

  • Undergrad student get-together
Network and mingle with fellow undergraduate attendees. This event is co-hosted by APS and the Society of Physics Students (SPS).
  • Undergrad lounge and grad school fair
Have a cup of coffee and relax in between sessions. This space is for undergrads only. Co-located with the lounge will also be a graduate school fair where you can chat with representatives from graduate programs looking to recruit undergrads.
  • Networking workshop
Brush up on your networking skills and develop an elevator pitch so you can build connections at the conference!
  • Student reception
The reception recognizes all students who presented in the undergraduate research sessions. Top presentations receive a special prize. And of course, there is free food!
  • Workshop: Building Your Physics Career: How to Put Your Science to WORK
In this interactive workshop, you’ll receive advice and strategies for taking your physics job search to the next level.

How to become a presenter

March Meeting centers on physics research in condensed matter, quantum information, magnetism, soft matter, materials, statistical and nonlinear physics, data science, and so much more. Become a presenter to fuel your future success:

  • Decide whether you want to present in a general session or undergraduate-only session. Students presenting in undergraduate-only sessions receive written feedback by trained mentors and a presentation certificate.
  • Patiently wait! All approved abstracts will be sorted into categories and an author notice will be sent in December notifying you of your acceptance.
  • Register at the discounted student rate and get ready for an awesome experience.

Why attend a scientific meeting?

Build your confidence in presenting and make important professional connections to launch a successful career. With more than 13,000 attendees, March Meeting provides a critical out-of-classroom experience unparalleled by other meetings because of the breadth of topics covered. Students can immerse themselves in any area of interest, gain significant perspective, and understand what it feels like to be part of an energetic, welcoming community of scientists.
